Competition news

Battling through the weather...

The Foursomes Stableford played this Saturday was won by the Father and Son team of Andy and Shawn Rowntree with a very impressive 33 points over 15 holes. They just beat Keith Ackerley and Adrian Wade by one point, on what turned out to be a tough windy day.

The Winter Stableford this Saturday is looking very popular with only a few slots left on the timesheet.

Ladies' Day

This week’s Ladies Day has fallen foul to the weather, with conditions unplayable at times - no one was brave enough to venture out.

Next week is an 11 hole Stableford if any ladies still wish to enter there are times on the BRS timesheet.

Clubhouse developments

Just a quick reminder that throughout the next few weeks, whilst the clubhouse is being refurbished, the pro shop and practice ground will be open as usual.

It would be great to see as many members coming up as possible during this quiet time. We have also purchased a new coffee machine for hot drinks before and after golf.

New stock is arriving!

We have taken delivery of the new Taylormade SIM range of golf clubs this week. 

Excitingly, this is slightly earlier than the expected launch date.  With demo clubs available to try as well, please don't hesitate to ask about hitting them.

Coaching news

Junior coaching proving popular...

We are now completely full for our February half-term junior coaching classes. With 24 juniors now signed up, we will look forward to improving and introducing new juniors into golf.

We are running more coaching classes in the April half term, all details will be promoted in our newsletters and are available now to view on the golf clubs web page.

Tour news

The wait is over

Graeme McDowell ended a near-six-year European Tour drought by battling through a blustery final day at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club to win by two from defending champion Dustin Johnson.

The likes of Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, and Patrick Reed (along with Dustin Johnson) were just some of the star names skipping the PGA Tour’s stop at the Waste Management Phoenix Open (won by Webb Simpson) in favour of the Saudi International, but none could match McDowell’s winning 12-under-par.

The win sees the Northern Irishman move back into the world’s top fifty with one eye firmly on adding to his major tally in 2020.

The gloves are on

Golf is hard enough at the best of times but throw rain, wind and freezing temperatures into the mix and it becomes near-on impossible. Cold fingertips that feel like ice blocks is something we’ve all encountered on the course at this time of year, and let’s not even mention the pain you feel when you thin a ball like that!
