Competition news

Weekly Round Up

Congratulations to John Chapman with a fantastic score of 32 points over 15 holes in very tough conditions, pipping Jim Smith on count back who also had 32 points.

This Saturday is a betterball Stableford played from the blue tees over 15 holes. There are limited spaces available on the sheet for the competition with two groups needing partners at 10.30am and 10.50am.

This Tuesday was the Ladies Valentines Stableford, congratulations to Libby Lanceley 32 points and Val Hoppins 21 points who won the 18 and 11 Hole competitions.

Club news

Tee timing booking update

Following a review of the BRS booking system and feedback from members, the handicap committee have decided that as from March 1st 2019 there will be a small change to the Saturday competition booking arrangements.

In future members will be able to book a tee time for a Saturday competition from all on line devices at 4.00pm on the Saturday 14 days in advance, instead of having to wait until the Monday at 9.00am.

Therefore on Saturday 2nd March at 4.00pm, BRS will go live on all online devices for the competition to be played on Saturday 16th March.

It will still be possible to book on the clubhouse PC from Friday at 4.00pm. It was felt that this change is fairer to members who are unavailable on a Monday morning for work or other reasons.

TaylorMade Hardware

We received yesterday our full order of TaylorMade hardware, with a variety of shafts and lofts.

This will now complement our full demo package of clubs, allowing us to custom fit and hopefully provide the right custom equipment in store.

Logo Bags

We have had a lot of interest in our logo bags from Callaway this past week.

Any member wishing to order a logo bag, Callaway are able to logo all bags except the waterproof bags and lead time on these bags is approximately three to four weeks.

Our Callaway demo day on the 13th of March is filling up nicely.

There are still spaces available if you would like to book in please feel free to contact myself or Josh to book an appointment.

Studio news

Studio Promotion Competition

To help promote the new fitting clubs, we have decided to run the following competition.

Between now and the Captains drive in on Sunday the 31st March, we would like to offer members the chance to come into the studio and have a half hour driver comparison session.

Bring in your current driver into the studio and allow us to see if we can improve your driving statistics with one of the new Callaway or TaylorMade models, No Obligation To Buy.

Sessions will only cost £10, all the names of those who take up the challenge will be put into a hat and drawn, with the winner winning £100 of Callaway or TaylorMade products of their own choice.

Mickelson has his eye-in

Phil Mickelson endured a frustrating wait to record his fifth AT&T Pebble Beach title last weekend. Following a delayed start to Sunday's final round due to a hailstorm, Mickelson rolled back the years by executing shot after shot to find himself three ahead with just two holes remaining, before getting forced off the course due to bad light.

With just 'lefty' and 54-hole leader Paul Casey taking to the course on Monday, a Mickelson win was all but a formality with just the final two holes left to navigate. And so it proved.

Arguably, the most impressive feat of the week came during Mickelson's opening round, when he managed to hit every single fairway for the first time in over two decades. We all know that splitting the fairway from the tee is a sure-fire way to take shots off your game, but we also know it is no easy task. Practice makes perfect but if you find yourself going wayward more often than not, or just want to tidy up your game, then come and have a chat with us to enhance your chances of staying out of the rough.
